The water looks good on you...

We designed this service mainly for people who might not be interested in committing multiple days to a full freediving course.

Instead, this is a private underwater videography experience for travelers, creators, and couples who want something far beyond a tourist photo.

A few things people always ask us.

What is the schedule of a videography session?

8:30 | Morning

Arrival and Welcome

  • Arrive at our dive center, meet your photographer-instructor, and get kitted out with equipment.
  • Grab a drink or snack from our restaurant if you need one.

Underwater Movement Briefing

  • Your instructor will show you a few simple tips on how to move, pose, and look natural underwater — this makes a huge difference in the final footage.

The Shoot

  • Head out to the water for your session. We aim for at least 60-90 minutes in the water.
  • Your instructor is in the water with you the entire time, filming and making sure you're safe.

Back at Aquatix

  • Rinse off, return your gear, and order something from our restaurant while we review some of the footage together.
  • Your edited content will be sent to you digitally, usually within 24-48 hours.

Do I need any experience?

No experience is necessary. As long as you're comfortable in the water and can swim, you're good to go. You don't need to be able to hold your breath for a long time — even a shallow dive of 3-5 meters can produce stunning footage if the conditions are right and the angles are good.

If you'd like a short freediving lesson before the shoot to help you dive deeper and feel more relaxed underwater, just let us know when you book and we can arrange that.

How long until I get my footage?

We aim to deliver your edited video and photos within 24-48 hours of your session. Files are sent digitally via a private download link. If you have a specific deadline (like a flight the next day), let us know in advance and we'll do our best to prioritise your edit.

What should I wear / bring?

We provide all the freediving equipment you need. Here's what to bring from your side:

  • A swimsuit or bikini — solid colours and minimalist styles tend to look best on camera underwater
  • A towel
  • Sunscreen (reef-safe, please!)
  • Water and a light snack if you want something before the session

If you have a favourite swimwear look or outfit you want to shoot in, feel free to bring it — we're happy to discuss styling ideas beforehand.

Can I book for two people?

Yes! Couples and friends booking together is very common and the footage often turns out beautifully. Please mention the number of people when you reach out so we can plan the session accordingly. Two-person sessions may be slightly longer to ensure everyone gets enough screen time.

What if I can't hold my breath for very long?

That's completely fine — and more common than you'd think. Even a 5-10 second breath-hold at 2-3 meters can produce beautiful footage if the light is good and the angles are right. Your instructor knows how to make the most of whatever time you have underwater.

If you'd like to extend your breath-hold a little before the shoot, we can include a quick intro lesson at the start of the session to get you more comfortable. Just let us know when you book.

Can I wear contact lenses during the session?

Yes, but keep in mind that water can get behind the mask and contact lenses can flush out. We recommend bringing daily disposable lenses so losing one isn't a big deal. Alternatively, if you have a prescription mask or can manage without correction for a short session, that works too. Just flag it beforehand and we'll make sure the session is planned around it.

Can I choose where we film?

We have a few go-to spots around Amed that we love for underwater filming — Jemeluk Bay is our most common location due to its clear water, stunning reef, and easy access. If you have a specific location in mind (like the Liberty Shipwreck in Tulamben or another dive site), reach out and we can discuss whether it's possible to arrange.

Can I cancel or reschedule?

Yes — life happens. Please give us at least 48 hours notice if you need to reschedule and we'll do our best to find a new time that works. Cancellations within 24 hours of the session may not be refundable. If poor weather or bad ocean conditions force a cancellation on our side, we will always reschedule at no cost to you.

What should I ask any operator before booking?

A few things worth checking with any operator before you commit:

  • How many clients per instructor?
  • What certification does the instructor hold?
  • Are clients covered by third-party liability insurance for the duration of the activity?
  • Is the operator properly licensed to run commercial diving activities in Indonesia?

We're happy to answer all of these. Just reach out.

Some of our favourite places for underwater filming and freediving in Amed, Bali

Some of our favourite filming spots.

Jemeluk Bay

Our primary filming location and one of the most photogenic dive sites in Asia. The coral garden here runs from 3 to 40 meters with exceptional water clarity and beautiful natural light in the morning hours. The vibrant reef life provides a rich backdrop for any underwater shoot — and the conditions are calm enough that even complete beginners can get in the water comfortably.

Lipah Beach

Famous for its resident green turtles, Lipah is one of our favourite spots for capturing those magical human-wildlife moments underwater. If swimming alongside a sea turtle is on your bucket list, this is where we try to make it happen. The reef is healthy and colourful, and the relaxed conditions make it easy to get great shots.

Emerald Bay

A sheltered, vivid green-blue bay with an intimate, almost secret feel to it. Dense marine life, beautiful coral formations, and fewer visitors than Jemeluk make this an excellent alternative for photography. The enclosed nature of the bay also gives the footage a distinctive look — surrounded by reef on all sides.

The Pyramids

Iconic underwater rock formations that rise dramatically from the seafloor, creating a natural cinematic backdrop unlike anything else in Amed. The structure attracts large schools of fish that swirl around the rocks in formation. If you want dramatic, visually striking footage — this is the spot. A short boat ride from Aquatix.
