Aquatix level 2 freediving course in amed, bali
Some things people always ask us.
Do I need a Level 1 certification before joining?
Yes — a Level 1 (or equivalent Wave 1 / AIDA 2 / SSI Level 1) certification is required before joining the Level 2 course. The foundational skills from Level 1 are not repeated in Level 2, so it's essential that you already have them solid.
If you haven't done Level 1 yet, we highly recommend starting there. Many students complete both courses back-to-back during the same trip to Bali.
How deep will I dive on this course?
The Molchanovs Wave 2 certification requires you to demonstrate dives to a minimum of 24 meters. Depending on your progress, many students dive to 25-30+ meters by the end of the course.
That said, depth is never the goal in itself — it's the byproduct of good technique, relaxation, and efficient equalization. Your instructor will always prioritise quality over numbers.
What certification do I receive?
Upon completing all requirements you'll receive a Molchanovs Wave 2 certification, which is internationally recognised and allows you to dive with certified buddies to the depth level you've demonstrated. If you've previously completed a Level 1 with another agency (AIDA, SSI, PADI), we can discuss a crossover evaluation — just reach out before booking.
What if I don't complete all requirements within the three days?
It happens, and it's nothing to worry about. Progress in freediving is highly individual — some students fly through the requirements, others take a little more time on specific skills. If you don't finish everything within the course days, you can complete outstanding requirements in a follow-up coaching session.
We'd always rather you build good habits and real depth slowly than rush through requirements under pressure.
How physically demanding is the Level 2 course?
More demanding than Level 1, but still very accessible for anyone in average health. Three consecutive days of diving is tiring, and you'll be working at greater depths — so recovery between sessions matters. We build in lunch breaks for a reason!
Getting a good night's sleep, staying hydrated, and eating well between days makes a noticeable difference in your performance. Some students also find light stretching and breathwork in the evenings helpful to prepare for the next day.
How many students are in the course?
We keep groups small — typically 2 to 4 students per instructor. At depth, individual attention and a reliable safety diver are non-negotiable. Small groups mean more time on the line, more personalised coaching, and a safer environment overall.
Can I cancel or reschedule?
Yes. Please give us as much notice as possible if your plans change — at least 48 hours before the course start is ideal. We know Bali travel can be unpredictable. If you need to cancel due to illness or an emergency, get in touch and we'll find a solution.
Can I scuba dive before or during the course?
No — please do not scuba dive within 24 hours before any freediving session. Residual nitrogen in your tissues from scuba diving creates an elevated risk of decompression sickness when freediving. This is a firm safety rule, not just a recommendation. If you're planning to combine scuba and freediving during your time in Bali, always freedive first, then scuba.
What should I ask any operator before booking?
A few things worth checking with any operator before you commit:
- How many clients per instructor?
- What certification does the instructor hold?
- Are clients covered by third-party liability insurance for the duration of the activity?
- Is the operator properly licensed to run commercial diving activities in Indonesia?
We're happy to answer all of these. Just reach out.
