Questions about private sessions.

What activities can I book as a private session?

Almost everything we offer can be done privately. This includes:

  • Level 1 Freediving Course — complete the full Molchanovs Wave 1 certification with just you and your instructor.
  • Level 2 Freediving Course — same as above for Wave 2, working toward 24m+ dives without sharing water time with other students.
  • Discover Freediving — a private introduction session for anyone who's never tried before.
  • Coaching Session — private line diving, technique work, or depth training with a dedicated instructor.
  • Recreational Freediving Trip — a private boat trip to Amed's best dive sites, just for your group.
  • Videography Session — a fully private underwater shoot with full focus on your footage.

When you reach out, just tell us which activity you want and we'll put together the right package for you.

Do I need to be an experienced freediver to book a private session?

Not at all. Private sessions are available for all levels — from complete beginners who prefer a more personal introduction to the sport, to advanced divers working on technical goals. Just let us know your experience level when you reach out and we'll tailor the session accordingly.

Can I book a private session for two people?

Yes, absolutely. Private sessions are a popular choice for couples, friends, or siblings who want to share the experience together. The instructor will divide their attention between both of you and make sure everyone is safe and getting value out of the session. Please mention the number of people when you reach out so we can plan accordingly.

What equipment is provided?

All freediving equipment is included — wetsuit, fins, mask, snorkel, weight belt, and weights. If you have your own gear, you're welcome to bring it. If you own all of your own equipment, let us know — we offer a discount for divers who come fully kitted.

How long is a private session?

Most private sessions run between 4 and 5 hours, including a warm-up, breathwork, the dive session itself (usually 90-120 minutes in the water), video analysis, and a debrief. If you want a longer or more intensive session — for example, a full-day or multi-day arrangement — just let us know and we'll put together something custom for you.

Can I do multiple private sessions on consecutive days?

Absolutely — and it's actually one of the most effective ways to make serious progress. Multi-day private packages allow your instructor to track your development across sessions, build on what you worked on the day before, and design each dive with your longer-term goals in mind. Reach out and we can put together a package that fits your schedule and goals.

What if ocean conditions are bad on the day?

Jemeluk Bay is generally very well protected and calm, but occasionally swell, wind, or currents can make conditions less than ideal. If conditions are genuinely unsafe or would significantly affect your session, we'll contact you to reschedule at no cost. We'd rather move the session than have you diving in conditions that aren't conducive to good training or good footage.

Can I cancel or reschedule a private session?

Yes. We reserve an instructor exclusively for private sessions, so please give us as much notice as possible if your plans change — ideally at least 48 hours. Rescheduling with enough notice is always free. Cancellations within 24 hours of the session may forfeit a deposit. If you need to cancel due to illness or an emergency, reach out directly and we'll handle it on a case-by-case basis.

What should I ask any operator before booking?

A few things worth checking with any operator before you commit:

  • How many clients per instructor?
  • What certification does the instructor hold?
  • Are clients covered by third-party liability insurance for the duration of the activity?
  • Is the operator properly licensed to run commercial diving activities in Indonesia?

Before You Arrive

A few things to do before your session

  • When you reach out to book, let us know your experience level, what you'd like to work on, and any goals you have — the more detail the better. This lets your instructor prepare a session designed specifically for you.
  • Avoid eating a heavy meal within 2 hours of your session.
  • Get a good night's sleep. Freediving performance is closely tied to how rested you are.
  • If you have any medical conditions or concerns, flag them when you book.

Welcome and Goal Setting

  • Arrive at Aquatix, meet your instructor, and finalise your gear selection.
  • Grab a drink or snack from our restaurant if you need one.
  • Sit down with your instructor and discuss your goals and objectives for the session. This is your time — there's no fixed curriculum.

Breathwork and Stretching

  • A personalised warm-up session with your instructor, tailored to your goals.
  • Covers lung stretching, breathing techniques, and mental preparation for the dive.

In the Water

  • Head to Jemeluk Bay (or an agreed location) for your private dive session.
  • Your instructor is in the water with you the entire time as your dedicated safety diver and coach.
  • We aim for a minimum of 90 minutes of active water time — often more depending on energy and goals.
  • Video footage is captured throughout for your review.

Back at Aquatix

Video Analysis

  • Watch back footage of your dives with your instructor.
  • Seeing yourself dive on film is one of the most powerful tools for improvement.
  • You'll receive specific, personalised feedback on what to focus on next.

Debrief

  • Share your thoughts on the session and discuss next steps.
  • If you'd like to continue with further private sessions or a course, your instructor can recommend the best path forward.
  • Reward yourself with something from our restaurant — you've earned it.
