Guided Freediving Boat Tour

Go freediving and explore some of the best dive sites in Asia from the exclusivity of a chartered boat!

Diving along a rope on a freediving buoy all day can get a little boring...

You're already certified, and you want to use those skills to actually explore. Different sites, offshore locations, and diving you can't do from the shore.

Explore locations away from shore entries and crowded beach spots.

Small groups of ocean-minded travelers on a shared boat, away from the tourist crowds.

Adaptable itineraries can be made for both confident beginners and experienced recreational divers alike.

Bali is the most beautiful when you see it from the ocean.

Almost every time I'm offshore and I gaze back at the green mountainside of Amed, I play the "Jurassic Park" theme song in my head. The photos you see online just don't detail how beautiful it is. Sometimes you feel like you're in a fantasy...

Common Questions About Aquatix Fun/Recreational Freediving Boat Trips

Read This Before You Book

What is the schedule?

We run boat dives on demand in the morning or in the evenings. Please check our schedule or reach out to us to ask about availability.

How many dive sites will we visit during our trip?

It depends on the length of the trip and the conditions on the day. A typical half-day morning trip usually covers 2 sites. A longer all-day trip can reach 3 or even 4 spots depending on travel time between locations.

We always choose sites based on current conditions — wind, swell, visibility, and currents all factor into where we go. Our instructors know these waters well and will always pick the spots that are going to give you the best experience on that particular day.

What should I bring with me?

We provide all the freediving equipment. Here's what to bring from your side:

  • A swimsuit or rash guard
  • A towel
  • Reef-safe sunscreen — please avoid chemical sunscreens, they damage the reef
  • Seasickness tablets if you're prone to motion sickness on boats
  • A light snack and extra water (we provide water on the boat)
  • A waterproof camera or GoPro if you want your own footage
  • Any personal medication you may need

Avoid eating a heavy meal less than 2 hours before the trip — freediving on a full stomach is uncomfortable for everyone.

Is equipment rental included?

Yes, all freediving equipment is included. This includes:

  • Freediving fins
  • Mask and snorkel
  • Rubber freediving belt and weights
  • Freediving two-piece wetsuit

If you already have all of your own equipment we are happy to offer a 10% promotion on the total trip price.

What kind of amenities are there?

We provide unlimited water and some light snacks on the boat.

Can I book a private boat trip?

Absolutely. Please message us to enquire about our availability.

What if I am not a licensed freediver?

We strongly recommend that you are a certified freediver, or have relevant experience diving in the ocean.

It is vital that you are comfortable swimming in the ocean (without a lifejacket) for this trip. Indonesia in renowned for sometimes having strong currents and turbulent diving conditions.

Are there any discounts or promotions available?

We're happy to offer a 10% discount on the total trip price (stackable to a total of 20%) if you are able to meet any of these conditions:

  • You're a certified freediving or scuba diving instructor
  • You hold a valid Indonesian KITAS permit
  • You bring all of your own equipment for diving
  • You have already dived or completed a course with us

What should I ask any operator before booking?

A few things worth checking with any operator before you commit:

  • How many clients per instructor?
  • What certification does the instructor hold?
  • Are clients covered by third-party liability insurance for the duration of the activity?
  • Is the operator properly licensed to run commercial diving activities in Indonesia?

We're happy to answer all of these. Just reach out.

Freediving Sites in Amed, North East Bali

Some of our favorite freediving spots to visit in Amed, Bali.

Jemeluk Bay

Our home base, and one of the most famous freediving sites in all of Asia. A coral garden slopes from 3 to 40 meters with exceptional clarity, abundant reef fish, and the occasional turtle drifting through. The water here is warm, the entry is easy, and the light in the morning is stunning. Suitable for all levels.

Savana Beach

A quieter, less-visited bay just along the coast from Jemeluk. Sandy slopes dotted with coral heads and a reliable resident turtle population. Great for relaxed diving and spending time with the wildlife without the crowds.

Emerald Bay

Named for its vivid green-blue water and intimate sheltered setting. Dense coral cover, colourful reef fish, and a tranquil atmosphere make this one of the most beautiful spots in the area. Great for photography.

The Pyramids

Iconic underwater rock formations that rise up from the seafloor like natural sculptures. The structure attracts large schools of fish and creates a dramatic backdrop. One of the most visually striking sites in Amed — if you want good photos, this is the spot.

Golden Rock / "GT" Spot

A current-swept offshore pinnacle named after the Giant Trevally that patrol it. Strong currents keep this site healthy and attract some of the biggest fish in the area. Not for absolute beginners — the conditions here can be lively — but exhilarating for experienced divers.

Lean Dropoff

A dramatic underwater wall that drops steeply into the blue. Excellent visibility, healthy hard coral coverage, and a genuine sense of depth below you. One of the more atmospheric dives in Amed, and a favourite for freedivers who love that feeling of open water below them.

U.S. Liberty Shipwreck

One of the most famous dive sites in the world. A WWII US Army cargo ship rests upright in 5-30 meters of water in nearby Tulamben, completely encrusted in coral and teeming with marine life. Freediving the Liberty is a bucket-list experience — the scale and atmosphere of the wreck are unlike anything else in Bali. A short boat ride from Amed.

Japanese Shipwreck

A smaller, shallower wreck sitting in about 10-20 meters. Less visited than the Liberty but equally atmospheric. Good visibility, interesting structure to explore, and far fewer divers — you often have it almost to yourself.

Bunutan

A peaceful bay with a gently sloping sandy bottom and diverse reef life. Relaxed conditions and easy navigation make it ideal for taking your time underwater — spotting critters, watching the marine life go about its day, and enjoying a calm dive without rushing.

Deep Blue

An offshore open-water site for more experienced freedivers. Deep, clear water with exceptional visibility and the possibility of encounters with larger pelagic species. The kind of dive that reminds you just how vast the ocean is. Best suited for freedivers comfortable at depth in open water.

Lipah Beach

One of Amed's most beloved turtle spots. Resident green turtles are a near-guarantee here, and the reef is healthy and diverse. Sandy channels between coral bommies make navigation easy and the overall vibe is calm and beautiful. Perfect for freediving at your own pace alongside wildlife.

Gili Selang

The most remote site on our list — sitting at the eastern tip of Amed where the currents between Bali and the open ocean collide. The currents keep the reef pristine and attract large schools of fish, rays, reef sharks, and occasionally pelagics. Conditions here are more challenging and best suited for experienced, comfortable freedivers. When it's good, it's incredible.
