The current at the dive site makes it inadvisable for shore dives. Please dive with an experienced guide and a boat escort.

Bathymetry

The name Deep Blue sufficiently details what the site is about. It's a spot with a gradual 15 - 20 degree slope that slowly descends eastbound into the abyss. There is one secret drop-off that holds game fish. But it's a relatively accessible dive that scuba divers often visit for their first drift dive.

One can observe many large, dramatic coral blocks scattered across the site, draped in sea fans and encrusted with dense growth and surrounded by life.

Current is strong and needs managing, not just experiencing. Visibility regularly clears to 20 to 25 meters and sometimes further. The water colour out here is distinctly different to the reef sites. Deeper blue, better light penetration, a noticeable quality shift from the moment you arrive.

The Predators

Giant Trevally and Barracuda hunting the sand in-between the coral heads. Reef Sharks can also be spotted here frequently.

For Capable Divers

The current is uniform, and predictable making this a rewarding dive. But not a starting point, is might be inappropriate for anyone still developing comfort in the ocean and current environments.
